Burnfield Demolition assist Clutha Vaults Helicopter Tragedy Investigation

December 6, 2013

Burnfield Demolition were asked by Glasgow City Council and Police Scotland to assist with making a dangerous building safe – The Clutha Vaults public house on Glasgow’s Clyde side. The bar was the scene of a tragic event involving a Police Helicopter crashing through the roof of the busy one storey building.

In terms of assisting the Police and Fire Service onsite, Burnfield Demoliiton were asked to remove the dangerous roof where the helicopter had entered the building and to erect a temporary roof structure. The temporary roof enabled fire crews and the crash & forsensic investigation units in to examine the scene as there had been considerable loss of life in the immediate area. Our operatives had to work in a highly sensitive forensic area, doing so with the upmost care and respect.
