Darwin Library Redevelopment – Burnfield Demolition attends Edinburgh University
April 9, 2017
The Darwin Library building is situated within Edinburgh University’s Kings Buildings campus and is scheduled for redevelopment by the client Robertson Civil Engineering. The current two storey library is to be hand separated and machine demolished by Burnfield Demolition with a new three story building built in it’s place.
Actual works include hand separation from the attached campus buildings which are still in use by students and lecturers alike. As such, smaller machinery is to be used, such as remote brokks to enable study halls, exams and lecture theatres to be uninterrupted by excessive noise and vibration.
Other works onsite include soft strip and demolition of out buildings to enable the construction of new plant buildings and link corridors. Works are to be completed by 2021 by the client, providing world class research and teaching space for students and staff.
