Burnfield complete Clydebank high storey demolition
February 27th, 2020
The existing housing site at Clydebank East required the demolition of three high storey buildings by use of long reach all within a landing flight zone path for Glasgow Airport, an adjacent railway and a main road. Coordination was required between the airport traffic control and Burnfield Demolition to make sure there was no interruption to flights. Six low level blocks of flats were also machine demolished.
The amount of material created meant the site often has five or six machines moving the concrete at any one time. Dust suppression was a particular concern due to the proximity of nearby primary school, water cannons were used at all times.
The client for this particular site was the Campbell Construction Group Ltd.
The project also involved extensive asbestos removal throughout all of the buildings, carried out by GreenAir Environmental Ltd.
